So, after taking a forced break from running after busting my knee this Spring, I have returned to my old addiction and started up again – in the heat of the Summer – a part of the year which I normally choose to take off. It’s been going pretty well. I haven’t exactly been going for very long distances – mostly just around the always beautiful Walnut Hill Park next to our apartment a few times a week, which I’ve totally had the time to do since I started working from home for the month. This Fall, once it cools down a bit, I definitely hope to do some more LSD (Long Slow Distance ). While I haven;t exactly been altering my work outs like I should, I have at least been working on getting my speed up – something which I’ve been known to neglect, so I guess that’s good. I’ve found that it really helps if I concentrate on not bouncing so much and just keeping everything more level. Just by focusing on this alone, I’ve managed to take a noticeable amount off my runs. Pretty exciting stuff if you ask me.
Yesterday, I got the excellent news that starting in September we will have the option t o work from home several days a week, which I am absolutely taking advantage of. This should allow me the time to really be more consistent in my training, which will be nice as I am looking forward to trying to focus more on distance in the coming months as things cool down a bit.
