On Sunday February 15th, I will officially turn 27 years old. I’m not 100% sure about how I feel about this. This is definitely the first birthday on which I definitely felt like I was really getting older and it wasn’t just another year of extended adolescence. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still very excited to celebrate… just a little less so about the getting older.
Anyhow, I’ve been going back and forth trying to figure out how I would like to celebrate this year. Kevin and several of our friends all turned 30 in the past 6 months and I’d grown quite accustomed to celebrating things big. It then occurred to me, however, that this is just 27. No reason to go too crazy. But 3 years from now? Oh, it is going to be quite the event!
After much deliberation, I’ve decided to celebrate on Valentine’s Day aka Katesmas Eve. I’m thinking of keeping it small – maybe a half dozen people including Kevin and myself – cocktails at our place around 7 or 8, dinner at the Corner Pug in West Hartford, perhaps more drinks either in West Hartford Center or in downtown Hartford, and then definitely birthday cake back at our place, because seriously folks, what’s a birthday without a little cake?
