So as you may recall, I posted a pretty sweet youtube video the other day of a sort of Lego-ized version of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. Well, today I came across this collection of various music album covers recreated with Lego , such as the Lego version of The Beatles’ Abbey Road seen below.

Woman Fined $1.9 mil for Illegal Downloads

$1.9 million for illegally downloading 24 songs! Wow, definitely glad I pay for my music these days… because really, was it worth it? If you read on, she “downloaded work by artists such as No Doubt, Linkin Park, Gloria Estefan and Sheryl Crow.” Yeah, definitely not worth it… probably not even worth the 99 cents in my opinion.

A federal jury Thursday found a 32-year-old Minnesota woman guilty of illegally downloading music from the Internet and fined her $80,000 each — a total of $1.9 million — for 24 songs

Illegal downloads of musical files will cost a Minnesota woman $1.9 million, a jury has decided.

Jammie Thomas-Rasset’s case was the first such copyright infringement case to go to trial in the United States, her attorney said.

Attorney Joe Sibley said that his client was shocked at the fine, noting that the price tag on the songs she downloaded was 99 cents.

American Idol Top 3: Who’s Going Home?

Awww shit! It’s that time again!

So we’re down to 3… and someone’s going home tonight. This is where it really gets exciting. I won’t lie, I really am excited – even though, overall, American Idol causes me ridiculous amounts of hate and rage every damn season. But I am excited.

So yeah, America, if Adam ends up going home tonight you’ll have disappointed me almost as badly as that time you re-elected Bush back in 2004. Don’t make me consider moving to Canada twice in less than a five year period.

Greg Pritchard on Britain’s Got Talent

So have you guys seen this? It’s pretty amazing… and I must say, more than a little strange. I’ve read a few things today comparing this guy to Adam Lambert from this season’s American Idol. Ummm yeah, not so much.

Leonard Cohen at The Palace Theater

So the legendary Leonard Cohen is coming to The Palace Theater in Waterbury, CT on May 14th and I will be attending – as soon as I find people to come with me.

This is his first US tour in about 15 years and as he is now in his 70′s, I doubt we will be seeing him come around this way again… so it’s definitely a no brainer for me- you just have to go.

His career spans over 40 years – each period of his work being very different from the others, yet still wonderful. I have for years used the work Leonard Cohen as a sort of measuring stick, when in conversations about music with those who refer to themselves as aficionados. If you can talk Cohen, well then in my book, you’re in. If you don’t know about Cohen, well then you just need to check him out.

So if you’re in New England, well you just need to check him out – and what better way to do so?

The Logitech Squeezebox Boom

Like most people my age, the majority of my music collection is housed on my computer (mp3′s, internet radio subscriptions, etc). However, it’s not always convenient for me to sit at my desktop on my office when I want to listen to music. Sometimes, for example, I might want to listen to music in the kitchen while making dinner or in the living room while flipping through a magazine. In the past if I wanted to do this, I would turn my computer’s volume way up so that it was obnoxiously loud and try to point the speakers in the general direction of where I’d be listening from. This was just no good.

Then one day, I came across the Logitech Squeezebox Boom – the answer to my problems.

I received this godsend for my birthday (something I not so subtly hinted for) and it’s been everything I’d ever hoped for. It was simple to set up, much cheaper than other network music players on the market, is easily moved from room to room, and it plays just about all the music I could ever want – EVERYTHING from my own collection, music from Pandora, Rhapsody, Live365, Slacker, Last.fm, Sirius…the list goes on. It even picks up local stations (I actually spend most of my days working from home listening to NPR through the Squeezebox Boom).

I would highly recommend this device to anyone looking for an affordable, user friendly network music player.
