Anyway, we decided to head [...]]]> Last night we went out with Tom and Heather  for Kevin’s birthday. Yes, I’m a day late with the  birthday wishes on the blog – worst girlfriend ever, I know, but I did make him a happy birthday breakfast involving bacon yesterday morning, so that must count for something, right?

Anyway, we decided to head down to New Haven  for some quality sushi and lots of drinks. We decided on a sushi place we’d never tried before – MISO.  The sushi was quite good with some really interesting roll options, the vibe was somewhat young and hip, the cocktails were pretty good (with an exception of Kevin’s Manhattan, which was  a watered down disappointment), and I even got to try some fresh ground wasabi – awesome.  I would definitely go back again – and perhaps I will for my birthday in a few weeks.

After MISO, we hit up Delaney’s Tap Room (always a favorite of ours- see my review here) and enjoyed a  few beers.  We even had a couple of beers bought for us after a couple of random drunk guys spilled beer on our table – and Heather.  It was completely unnecessary, but they insisted – and hell, it was Kevin’s birthday – he should have a drink purchased for him by a stranger.  We left as  the lights were being turned on in the bar.  There was also a situation involving a fire extinguisher, which really made it imperative that we got out quickly because we couldn’t really breathe properly.

All and all, a good evening was had.  Happy Birthday, Dear!

So this should be fun… I’ve set up a little blog for my mom over at http://LindasNovelIdeas.com. We were talking about my blog and she was saying that she should get a blog and she could maybe write reviews of the books she’s reading and other stuff. And I said OMG! YOU TOTALLY SHOULD! I CAN HOOK YOU UP!!! And now she has a blog. I registered the domain and did the basic set up of it over the weekend and I’m going over my parents’ house tonight to show her the ropes and make any changes that she may want.

This should be interesting- she’s a noob (even though she does work in IT – not that that necessarily means ANYTHING) and I don’t think she really reads any blogs besides my own. It will be fun, though… more fun geek work for me and I always like teaching people stuff. Good times

Obviously she hasn’t written anything in it yet and I’m not sure when she’s going to or exactly what she plans on writing about (other than she thought she might talk a little about the books she’s reading – mom’s a big reader), but once she gets started you should check her out, because I’m sure she’ll have lots of good stuff to share. I don’t think anyone is more [...]]]> So I have a very busy evening ahead of me (cookie baking and dinner with my friend Jenn) and probably won’t have time to write a real post, but I did want to call it to everyone’s attention that this marks my 80th consecutive day of posting. Woohoo!

I don’t think anyone is more shocked than I am that I’ve made it this far. I won’t say they’ve all been the most quality posts (the random videos or funny pictures didn’t exactly take a ton of time or effort from me), but they’ve been posts nonetheless…. Can I make it 100 days? Who knows?

Across borders, more men than women think Dad’s in charge, and more women than men think Mom is—which just goes to show that the biggest factor in who wears the pants may be whom you ask.

As I was looking through the results, though, it got me thinking… I don’t think we had a boss in my family, growing up.  At least, I don’t remember there being a clear  boss.  I have fond memories of my parents playing the “go ask your mother/father” game that would involve me running back and forth across the house six times and being told to go ask the other “boss” for permission to go outside and play.  The answer in the end was often that in the time spent playing that fun game, it had gotten far too dark to go outside an play.  I think they were messing with me… or maybe they really were just that bad at making decisions – which could explain a lot about me.

In my little family with Kevin and the cats, one thing is very clear – Spaz is the boss.  She’s not a very nice boss either.  She is a BITCH!  She’s  always yelling at us for all sorts of very logical reasons… like our making it rain outside or the fact that we sometimes like to use the bathroom without her supervision or we came home late without calling her first and OH MY GOD WHERE HAVE WE BEEN???  HER DISH IS ALMOST HALF EMPTY!!!  I think our midyear reviews are coming up – I’m worried.

Seriously, New Britain, CT  isn’t exactly rural…   Actually, it’s fairly urban and in some areas  one might say it’s even quite ghetto.   Don’t worry, it’s really not that bad- I’ve been living [...]]]> I told Kevin to stop wandering around outside at 5 o’clock in the morning!  But he just wouldn’t listen… and now look!

I want to know if anyone [...]]]> I always try to keep posts about my cats to a minimum, because really, nobody want to hear about them.  I know- I don’t even want to  hear about peoples’ kids… why would strangers want to hear about my cats?  This time, however, I am making an exception…

I want to know if anyone else has experienced this strange phenomenon.  My cats seem to love Kevin and myself far more when we are in the bathroom than at any other time.  They love the bathroom and follow us in ALL. THE. TIME.  As in, if they see us going in they will RUN to catch up and  beat us in there.

Once there, they are SUPER affectionate.  They want to cuddle… and I am not all about cuddling with the cats while I’m on the toilet – you got to have some boundaries, ya know?  Because I don’t want to cuddle, Nemo will just throw himself down at my feet and look up at me with lovey eyes and purr up a storm.  It’s a little weird.  Oh, and they  both get sooo excited when you flush!

Spaz frequently jumps into the shower with me before I’ve turned the water on…  I’ll admit, a few times I’ve turned the water on as she’s getting in just to watch her flip out.  Kevin locks the door when he showers…  and you should see them freak out!  They will sit at the other side of the door until he gets out – sometimes even scratching at the door or meowing somewhat violently.

I would just believe that my cats are weird, and they are, but I’ve had many cats over the years and the majority of them have all wanted to be in the bathroom whenever we went in.  Is it just my cats?  Or is it all cats?  And what is up with that???

There is no question that they are absolutely fascinated with toilet… if you’re sitting on it, do they think that you therefore are the master of this wondrous being?

Cat owners out there, do you have any opinions on this subject?
